We are just one step away from making it illegal in Mexico to keep tigers, lions, and other wild animals as pets.
Thanks to your signature and support, we already got this initiative approved in the House of Representatives in April 2022. Now it just needs to be approved by the Senate to become a reality.
Wild animals should never be locked up and chained in a home just because some people feel like it. Unfortunately, it is very common for them to escape from homes, putting both the animals and neighbors in danger. In addition, they are often abandoned by their owners, overwhelming PROFEPA’s rescue capacity. The big problem is that all of this is still legal in Mexico. We have to put an end to this mistreatment of wild animals once and for all.
What do we propose?
- Prohibit new permits to keep big cats as pets.
- Prohibit the breeding of big cats for sale as pets.
Be a hero for animals by signing this petition to demand that senators immediately approve the reform of the General Wildlife Law so that wild animals are no longer used as pets.
